Our team’s mission is clear: to deliver exceptional EHR and Health IT educational experiences that empower every end user to collaboratively support patient well-being. To achieve this, we must return to the foundations of great instructional design and reimagine how we create learning that truly inspires, motivates, and transforms.

This course provides healthcare instructional designers with a comprehensive, learner-centered refresh on the core principles of instructional design — updated for today’s digital and fast-paced environment. Drawing on real-world healthcare scenarios, you will revisit the basics of adult learning theory, Bloom’s taxonomy, learner personas, and journey mapping — and then learn how to elevate your work through storytelling, microlearning, and viral learning moments that drive adoption and behavior change.

Designed as an interactive eLearning experience, this course blends reflection, application, and practice. You’ll engage with scenarios that move beyond “checking the box” and practice creating learning journeys that motivate diverse roles — from schedulers to nurses, physicians to billing staff, customer service to students.

By the end of this program, you will:

  • Re-ground yourself in adult learning principles and apply them to healthcare training.

  • Use Bloom’s taxonomy to move training from rote recall to real performance impact.

  • Design with learner personas and journeys in mind, ensuring relevance and engagement.

  • Harness the power of storytelling to transform compliance content into compelling experiences.

  • Apply microlearning and spaced practice to embed knowledge into daily workflows.

  • Connect your design decisions back to our mission and patient outcomes.

Together, we’ll shape a future where learning is fun, continuous, and career-long — and where our work is recognized nationally for innovation and impact. Imagine 18 months from now: our team is honored with the ATD BEST Award, and our designs are celebrated as models for healthcare education. This course is the first step on that journey.
